In the field of psychology, results imply goal-attainment, task attainment (Locke et al., 1968; Locke and Latham, 1990), and outcomes (Salmoni et al., 1984). The strategic focus of a results-oriented work environment is to obtain goals and outcomes and to complete tasks (Santalainen and Hunt, 1988; Thierry, 1998; Binnendijk, 2001; Burke, 2002; Ressler and Thompson, 2008; Verbeeten and Speklé, 2015). From a POS perspective, a results-oriented strategy embraces a broaden-and-build perspective by framing the attainment of performance outcomes as opportunities for learning, growth, and expanded awareness (Cravens et al., 2010).

Associated Data

The purpose of a rating scale in research is to measure the degree to which a participant exhibits certain characteristics or to assess specific qualities that are not easily quantified, such as attitudes, satisfaction, or performance. The primary benefit of using rating scales is that they provide researchers with a structured way to translate subjective responses into data that can be analyzed quantitatively. Rasch techniques have greatly impacted the manner in which social science research makes use of tests and surveys (e.g., Panayides et al., 2010). The Rasch framework offers procedures (see Appendix B in the Supplemental Material for a Rasch road map) for constructing and revising social science measurement instruments and documenting measurement properties of instruments (e.g., reliability, construct validity). Rasch techniques also enable researchers to make critical corrections when using raw test score data or survey data. Specifically, Rasch techniques allow nonlinear raw data to be converted to a linear scale, which then can be evaluated through the use of parametric statistical tests.

3. Statistical analysis

A nominal scale is the least precise measurement scale that categorizes data into discrete groups or categories. It does not involve ranking or numerical values and is often used to represent qualitative or categorical information. Reliability indicates the confidence one could have in the measurement obtained with multi-scale analysis a scale. It tests how consistently a measuring instrument measures a given characteristic/attitude is measured again and again, leading to about the same conclusion.

How do scale values influence data analysis?

Trimming yields the adjusted effect size and reduces the variance of the effects by adding the original studies back into the analysis as a mirror image of each study. The MD software quality assurance (QA) analyst is the absolute difference in mean values between the groups, and the SMD is the mean difference between groups divided by the standard deviation. When results are presented in the same units, the MD can be used, but when results are presented in different units, the SMD should be used.
